UL 1741

UL 1741 Standard for Inverters, Converters, Controllers and Interconnection System Equipment for Use with Distributed Energy Resources These requirements cover inverters, converters, charge controllers, and interconnection system equipment (ISE) intended for use in stand-alone (not grid-connected) or utility-interactive (grid-connected) power systems. Utility-interactive inverters, converters, and ISE are intended to be operated in parallel with an electric power system (EPS) to supply power to common loads. For utility-interactive equipment, these requirements are intended to supplement and be used in conjunction with the Standard for Interconnecting Distributed Resources with Electric Power Systems, IEEE 1547, and the Standard for Conformance Test Procedures for Equipment Interconnecting Distributed Resources with Electric Power Systems, IEEE 1547.1. UL 244A

UL 244A Standard for Solid-State Controls for Appliances These requirements cover component electronic controls intended to be factory installed on or in appliances and other utilization equipment rated 600 V or less, used in ordinary dry locations as defined in the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, and that comply with the requirements for such appliances and equipment. For a control covered by this standard, it is assumed that:

  • No voltage greater than 600 V above ground will be present in a control
  • An isolation transformer, if provided, will generally furnish power at a lower potential than the primary voltage
  • The output of the control will not be located in a circuit operating at greater than 600 V above ground in the end-use product
If conditions other than these are provided, consideration shall be given to the need for additional requirements. Preview Standard

UL 6500

UL 6500 Audio/Video and Musical Instrument Apparatus for Household, Commercial, and Similar General Use The purpose of this standard applies to electronic apparatus designed to be fed from the MAINS or from a SUPPLY APPARATUS and intended for reception, generation, recording or reproduction respectively of audio, video and associated signals. It also applies to apparatus designed to be used exclusively in combination with the above mentioned apparatus. It applies to apparatus with a RATED SUPPLY VOLTAGE not exceeding 250 V a.c. single phase or d.c. supply and 433 V a.c. in the case of apparatus for connection to a supply other than single phase. It applies to apparatus for use at altitudes not exceeding 2000 m above sea level, primarily in dry locations and in regions with moderate or tropical climates. Preview Standard

UL/CSA

UL/CSA UL STANDARDS FOR CANADA In 2013, UL was accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a nationally recognized Standards Development Organization (SDO) to develop National Standards of Canada (NSCs) and National Adoptions of Canada (NACs). UL now develops joint Canada-US standards using a streamlined process that involves a single consensus body administered by a single SDO accredited by the SCC in Canada and ANSI in the US.
